Zim's Cafe serves up some classic Southern eats, burgers, and salads at its location inside the old Lexington courthouse.

Zim's Cafe in downtown Lexington has a pretty good reputation going for it. It has the same owner as Honeywood and a few other central Kentucky restaurants known for quality local ingredients and great recipes.
We headed over one afternoon to check out their offerings! Located in a towering old courthouse that commands attention on West Main Street, the cafe is part of revitalization efforts that took off in 2018.

Inside the Old Courthouse
The historic courthouse is home not only to Zim's, but also the Lexington Visitors Center. So if you're new to town, it's a great place to browse travel brochures and local gifts.

When you enter the building, the area behind the host stand is Zim's. You'll see a coffee and pastry counter, and there's a small adjacent dining area with seating.

A different time visiting here, I ordered a latte from the bakery area, and it was really good!

There's extra dining space in the area that Zim's shares with The Thirsty Fox, a bar that's also inside the courthouse.
We visited mid-afternoon when there weren't a lot of other customers, and we were seated in The Thirsty Fox dining area.

There's also a little gift shop wall directly across from the coffee bar.

There's plenty of outdoor seating if the weather's nice!

We had the Santa Anita burger (with beer cheese added) with fries, and the turkey Rachel with a half house salad.

Everything was delicious, and the food came out fairly quickly.

We’re in the area often and can’t wait to come back to try more of their meal options!
