Crank & Boom has carved out its perfect niche in Lexington, Kentucky.

That niche is craft ice cream! With its endless possibilities of flavor and a casual, fun atmosphere, Crank & Boom beckons you in for an afternoon break, a weekend treat, or even a quick “I’ll just take this home for later” purchase.

Can’t get to Lexington, but longing to try their signature flavors? Crank & Boom ships nationwide!

    Crank & Boom Locations

Crank & Boom has a shop in the Distillery District of Lexington, which has all kinds of fun restaurants, breweries, and cool event venues.

The shop, which is off Manchester Street, is tucked between some other buildings, but you’ll know it when you see it. Something about the colorful, huge ice cream cones painted on the brick exterior gives it away!

The other location, pictured below, is on the south side of Lexington, off Clays Mill Road.

Both locations feature casual, colorful indoor seating, as well as picnic tables outside.

Crank & Boom’s Ice Cream Menu

Crank & Boom’s signature ice cream flavors are listed on their website. These are the flavors that seem to be more or less permanent.

From the signature flavors, I’ve tried the bourbon & honey, the Kentucky blackberry & buttermilk, and the blueberry lime cheesecake.

All were delicious, but so far my favorite is the bourbon & honey. It’s the flavor that was so tasty I actually felt sad about reaching the last spoonful.

Seasonal, non-dairy, and small batch flavors come and go! They’ll be listed on a separate menu board at the shop.

I recently saw Crank & Boom promoting their newest small batch flavor, goat cheese honey fig. I was eager to try some! (Turns out, it’s wonderful. Of course.)

But it’s a good thing I got there within a couple of days, because it was a fast seller! So do keep an eye on Crank & Boom’s social media for those special flavors and sales.

    Sundaes + Drinks

While the ice cream itself is appetizing enough, Crank & Boom has a few extra surprises up its sleeve.

Ice cream cocktails: coffee stout ice cream and Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream? Yes, please!

Floats: strawberry balsamic sorbet and champagne? Yup, that’s going on my list.

Sundaes: A s’mores sundae? You had me at “torched marshmallows on top.”

Really, there are so many decadent and fancy options that it’s a bit difficult to know where to start.

This is why repeat trips are necessary.
