The Cellar Bar & Grille in Lexington is a great place for happy hour drinks and eats, along with live music in a beautiful setting!

Have you ever realized that a city you thought you knew pretty well still had its little secrets?
That's how we felt last summer when we stumbled upon The Cellar Bar and Grille, a somewhat hidden oasis in southern Lexington.
With very competitive pricing during happy hour, an idyllic patio surrounded by lush greenery, and a mellow set of live music, The Cellar really impressed us! We started recommending it to friends, and it went firmly on our list of must-returns.
Here's why you might want to check it out!

Finding The Cellar Bar and Grille
The Cellar Bar and Grille is — well, sort of in the cellar.
It's the lower level of The Signature Club of Lansdowne.
And while the club is members-only, the restaurant is open to everyone.
Once you find the club, which is just off Tates Creek, north of New Circle, follow the signs to the parking lot down behind the building.
Happy Hour at The Cellar
Happy Hour is typically Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
You can expect quite good prices on appetizers, beer, wine, well drinks, and cocktails.
Check out The Cellar's Facebook page for extended happy hours or special events.
You can order online if you need to do pickup, but if the weather's nice, don't miss an opportunity to dine on the patio.
Dining on The Patio
The indoor portion of the restaurant has more of a sports bar vibe, with huge screens for watching the game. But in summer time, it was the patio that really caught our attention.
Overlooked by plenty of trees, and with umbrella-shaded tables, the patio has a pleasant, comfy feel even in the heat of summer.

When we arrived, shortly before 5 p.m., the patio wasn't overly crowded yet and it was easy to find a table. But it did start to fill up after that, so I'd recommend going early in the evening.
It's a "seat yourself and wait for service" situation, so you may need to give it a few minutes before you can catch the eye of a server, depending on how busy they are.
Once our drinks arrived (a bourbon on ice, a glass of wine, and the fun, tropical Bahama Mama), we enjoyed just sitting back and relaxing.
There was live music the evening we went. It was a guitar playing duo, with songs of the Margaritaville variety (although they did take requests).
We ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with a cucumber tomato salad, blackened mahi mahi tacos with sweet potato fries, and a turkey and avocado wrap.
Everything was delicious!
Not able to make it out to a restaurant but craving fish tacos? Try making your own halibut or tilapia tacos at home!
With the live music and the good weather, it was a perfect evening.
The Cellar Bar and Grille is a good place to gather with friends if no one has to rush away — but can instead just plan to linger and enjoy the patio and the surroundings.
