Cassel Vineyards offers a wonderful range of wines and tastings on their scenic grounds near Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Cassel Vineyards is a small winery with gorgeous grounds in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania (near Hershey).
There are even horses on site, making it an extra charming and pastoral setting.

It's within about four miles of the Hershey main attractions, so it's an easy add-on to your itinerary if you have an extra hour or two to spend.
The winery closes for a couple of months every winter, so keep an eye on Cassel's Facebook page for seasonal updates.
During the summer, live music and food trucks are scheduled for some evenings, and when the grapes are harvested visitors are invited to help pick! Events can be found on the winery website.
What Kind of Wines Can I Try at Cassel Vineyards?
Cassel has a nice variety of wines, ciders, and a few ports.
There were more dry options than I anticipated for an east coast vineyard. This was a pleasant surprise, since I prefer dry wines.

I was especially impressed with their Cabernet Franc Reserve (Winners Circle) and the Winners Circle White Reserve.

I'm normally a dry red fan, but the white was particularly interesting as it was aged in cognac barrels.
For those with a sweet preference, Cassel makes strawberry wine and peach wine. Their line of ciders ranges from semi-dry to sweet.

What Is a Tasting Like Here?
You can order a flight of five samples, which comes with a complimentary glass.

Tasting areas include the tasting bar in the shop area, an enclosed (heated) patio, and some outdoor seating.

I opted for the heated patio (it was a chilly day) and loved that it overlooked the vineyard and horses. Quite a relaxing view.

There are a couple of snack options, including a cheese tray. I didn't get it, but the family next to me kept commenting on how delicious the cheese was.
You can also wander through the vineyard for a close-up look at the grapes.

If you're spending a little time in Hershey, Cassel Vineyards is one place to add to the list! Other foodie destinations we loved were The Hershey Pantry for brunch and Troegs Independent Brewing for a meal and beers.
