One of many wineries in the Finger Lakes region of New York, Billsboro Winery specializes in dry wines. Try a tasting in their barn or on their patio.
If a Finger Lakes wine country tour sounds like your idea of a good time, you're not alone!
We visited as many vineyards and wineries as we could in the space of just a few days in upstate New York. Although there are plenty we didn't get to, we did enjoy a nice cross-section of what the region has to offer.
Trying to decide what should be on your itinerary? Here's what a visit to Billsboro Winery is like.
Where Is Billsboro Winery Located?
This winery is about five miles south of Geneva, New York, on the shore of Seneca Lake.
Within a few minutes' drive, you can also check out Ardenne's Taproom & Kitchen, Spotted Duck Frozen Custard, and Fox Run Vineyards.
Do I Need a Reservation?
Reservations are recommended. But we visited on a Thursday morning without a reservation and had no problems getting in without one.
You can book a tasting on their website, and also check out any special events like the pizza night scheduled for a couple of times a month.
As of 2024, Billsboro is open every day during the summer, but keep an eye on their Facebook page for schedule adjustments and winter hours.
What's the Wine Tasting Like?
Billsboro specializes in dry wines.
When we visited, they had a 5-for-$15 offer. They also offer a chocolate pairing. We passed on it this time, but I want to try it if we come again.
The wine came out on a flight board.
Our favorite was the “library,” or vintage, white wine – a 2018 Chardonnay, which was extremely buttery and smooth.
I also enjoyed their rosé.
They offer non-alcoholic juice flights (and bottles for sale) if you want to try juice made from specific grapes.
There are several food options too, even if you don't come on a pizza night. You can choose from a nice selection of cheeses, or get a charcuterie board.
You can spend your time either in the tasting room (the barn) or on the shaded patio surrounded by trees.
