Rotisse offers Belgian specialties like moules et frites, along with a nice selection of beers, in central Brussels.

Rotisse is a restaurant in a Marriott Bonvoy near the city center of Brussels. (You do not have to be staying at the hotel to eat here.)

We came for the moules et frites (mussels and fries). It’s one of my favorite dishes and is a Belgian specialty, so I wanted to make sure I ate it at least once while we were there!

Reservations are recommended; however, we did just show up and were able to quickly get a table for two.

Either indoor and outdoor seating is available. On this visit we were directed to indoor seating and took it happily (the air conditioning worked well!).

    What We Tried at Rotisse

The menu offers a number of meat and seafood entrees, with at least a couple of vegetarian or vegan options. The menu is subject to change.

Rotisse has a nice selection of Belgian beers, and we enjoyed what we tried! (Our beer experience in Brussels was supplemented by visits to Cantillon Brewery and the Belgian Beer World Experience.)

Bottles of lambic and tripel beer with some poured out into glasses.

We started with the shrimp coquettes, which were pretty delicious. I especially liked the fried parsley garnish, which surprised me because typically I don’t love parsley.

We had the moules et frites, of course, and they were amazing. The mussels were tender and the broth was perfectly seasoned.

At home, I enjoy making beer mussels with either fries or toasted bread.

We also tried the turbot meunière, which I couldn’t resist since any type of fish meunière is a personal favorite.

I’d never tried turbot before, so I was mostly just curious! The fish was extremely well prepared, although the flavor of the (very bony) fish wasn’t my favorite. I’m still glad I tried it though! It was served with capers and a mushroom hollandaise.

We finished with a Burnt Basque Cheesecake, which featured sour cherries, strawberries, and a red wine reduction. This style of cheesecake is cooked in a very hot oven, resulting in a caramelized outer layer and wonderful flavor.

It was a perfect end to the dinner.

If you're looking for a place to try some traditional Belgian cuisine, we recommend Rotisse!
