The Lamb and Lion is a comfortable pub with an excellent lunch and drink special, perfect for taking a break in the historic city of Bath.

Our trip to the UK was packed with traditional moments the first few days: a café in the shadow of Oxford's Radcliffe Camera, a hidden pub frequented by the famous, afternoon tea on the grounds of Blenheim Palace, and then a quick foray to Bath to revel in the architecture and history.
Before we got to the business of sightseeing, lunch was in order. And we found a good one at The Lamb & Lion, a casual eatery with affordable options. Here's what to know!
How to Get to the Pub
The Lamb & Lion is an easy 5-minute walk from the train station.
Located along Lower Borough Walls, it's very close to the heart of the city and other attractions like the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and Sally Lunn's.

These few minutes of walking to the pub were our introduction to the atmosphere of Bath, and we were right away dazzled by the distinctive golden limestone buildings and the lively, walkable streets. Though we weren't favored with sunshine (not surprising, of course), Bath still glowed.
The pub is also less than a 5-minute walk from a couple of the stops for the hop-on hop-off buses, which can be helpful for sightseeing.
Lunch Specials at the Lamb and Lion
What drew us to this pub were the lunch specials on the menu, which are valid on weekdays.
For a reasonable price, you can choose from a variety of loaded jacket potatoes (baked potatoes, to Americans), toasted sandwiches, wraps, or baguettes.

These lunch options come with a free drink (as do the burgers), or for only one pound extra you can upgrade to beer, cider, wine, or a mixer. That's what we all opted to do.
(We loved all the hard ciders we had in the UK! They tended to be less sweet than some of the ones you find in the US, with a nice balanced flavor. There are quite a lot of cider brands available, even in the smallest of grocery stores, so we got to try several over the course of our trip.)

As per usual at pubs in England and Scotland, you find a table first, take note of your table number, and then go order at the bar. The Lamb and Lion was not overly busy when we went (it wasn't at the height of tourist season).
There's an outdoor beer garden if the weather is favorable.

We had BBQ chicken loaded jacket potatoes and a bacon and cheese toastie. Everything was delicious!

Although we didn't try one, their burger menu also looked excellent, and they had several curries and other options too.
After this, it was on to explore Bath!
