Gourmet pizzas and delicious sangria await you at Lola's, a petite eatery located minutes away from downtown Charleston, West Virginia.
Most summers, we find ourselves in Charleston, West Virginia, for a few days. Naturally, we have our favorite spots — places slightly off the beaten path that we keep getting drawn back to.
Top of the list in Charleston is Lola's, a small gourmet pizza restaurant on Bridge Road.
At first glance, you might not be able to tell what Lola's is all about. It's a converted house, with seating broken up in different rooms, and also some outdoor seating for overflow.
But step inside and prepare to be greeted by some fantastic menu choices and locally sourced ingredients.
I’ve been coming here for years and have always had great experiences!
When to Visit
As of 2023, Lola's is open for dinner Tuesday through Friday, and lunch and dinner on the weekends.
You might find them a bit busy in the evenings. In the past, I've sometimes had to wait a few minutes for a table, but their new added outdoor seating seems to be helping!
You can check out the menu or order online. They will even partially bake a pizza for you if you want to take it home and finish cooking it there.
Favorites at Lola's
Our tried and true favorites include:
- The house red sangria: It’s not overly sweet, and it inspired me to try making sangria at home (like this bourbon sangria and this cranberry orange sangria).
- The goat cheese salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Pan-seared goat cheese is so incredibly good!
- The fig jam pizza with gorgonzola (bottom right in the photo below). It’s both sweet and savory, and was the inspiration for this fig jam pizza recipe. We sometimes order our pizzas half and half, so also pictured are the artichoke goat cheese pizza (bottom left), steak and cheese (top right) and ham and pineapple (top left).
We finished our most recent meal at Lola's with a delicious coconut crème brûlée. I love making coconut crème brûlée at home too!
If you find yourself in Charleston, West Virginia, I encourage you to stray a little from the downtown area and dig into the pizzas at this little gem, Lola's!
