If you spend much time in Lexington, Kentucky, you know that it just keeps growing and developing in all directions. New shopping districts, new food and drink hubs. It feels like they just keep popping up.

It’s a thriving kind of city!

That’s why, although Brannon Crossing is technically just across the county line in Nicholasville, you could be pardoned for thinking that it’s just another part of the Lexington sprawl.

It’s a short drive from popular Lexington spots like the University of Kentucky Arboretum or Talon Winery.

And Brannon Crossing has a whole set of its own stores and restaurants, as well as a Movie Tavern.

But our favorite discovery there so far has to be the European Delights bakery. It’s full of tempting goodies!

Getting to Know European Delights Bakery

The European Delights bakery has been operating in Nicholasville for over 10 years and is family-owned.

All of their bakery items are made from scratch. From single-serve desserts to entire cakes, everything is exquisitely decorated and finished.

The display cases present an almost overwhelming array of choices.

In fact, I would almost recommend glancing through the menu on their website before you go for the first time. Otherwise, as I found out, it’s very difficult to choose!

There’s an attractive seating area to the left of the ordering counter. There are also a couple of tables outside.

Some of the items are gluten free (which is marked on the display label).

You’ll also find all the traditional coffee shop drinks made to order.

We opted for a piece of strawberry white chocolate mousse cake and a decadent cream and fruit tart.

And… a slice of hazelnut praline cake to go (because we couldn’t not take something home!).

    Everything was delicious!

The bakery adds in other flavors and items seasonally. And they take orders for desserts to serve a crowd, if you’re planning a party.

In between times of shopping and doing other business in Lexington, the bakery is a great place to rest for a moment and treat yourself.
