The Braxton Brewing Barrel House in northern Kentucky is a good stop for local beers and a quick casual meal.

Braxton Brewing is a craft beer producer in northern Kentucky near Cincinnati. Besides its original brewery in Covington, Kentucky, it keeps adding new taprooms throughout the region, including in Fort Mitchell, Union, Norwood, and the Cincinnati International Airport.

We stopped in at the "Barrel House" location in Fort Mitchell, which is where the brewery ages their beers. It was a really nice way to wind down with some local brews after a day of skiing at Perfect North.

(We also like the original taproom in Covington, which is bigger... and has pizza!)

We ordered two of their sour beers and then grabbed a table. They keep 22 beers on tap at this site, with rotating availability.

They also sell cans of their beer and souvenirs, so if you find any beers you really love you might be able to take some home.

Can I Get Food at Braxton Brewing Barrel House?

Yes: there's an on-site food truck called Slider Shack.

To order, you can use a touch screen inside the brewery, or I also saw people ordering food at the bar. (The food truck closed for the evening before we left, so it seems to have different hours than the brewery.)

Slider Shack sells quesadillas, salads, and (of course) sliders. The sliders are mostly beef. The quesadillas have some chicken and veggie options.

Also worth checking out are the shareable size fries with toppings. We got two quesadillas and the loaded fries, and everything arrived really quickly.

When our food was ready, we got a text and an employee brought our food inside (we didn’t have to collect it from the food truck).

While we were there, they were having a musical bingo trivia night, but it wasn’t overly crowded. (I’m sure weekends are busier.)

Overall this was a nice time, and I’d recommend stopping here if you’re in the area!
