Bahnhof is a beer garden in downtown Huntington, West Virginia, with German-inspired food and lots of imported and local beers!

Bahnhof is one of our standby restaurants whenever we're in Huntington, West Virginia.

The food is delicious, and the beer garden is enjoyable too. Here's what to know if you go!

    Where Is Bahnhof Located?

This German-inspired restaurant is in downtown Huntington, West Virginia, on the corner of 8th Street and 7th Avenue. It's about five blocks or so from the river and from Pullman Square, one of Huntington's busier food and shopping districts.

It's also less than a mile from Ritter Park, another Huntington landmark.

There's plenty of parking available at the restaurant.

The outside seating area is pleasant in good weather; it has sails stretched out to provide a little shade.

Picnic tables with canvas shades stretched across courtyard.

If, on the other hand, the weather is a little nippy, you can gather around the warming station.

    Menu + Beer Choices

They generally have lots of semi-local beers on tap (from West Virginia or Ohio, for example), and a good selection of German beers.

Tasting samples aren’t free (sadly), but you can pay to taste before buying a glass.

Check the tap list online to get an idea of what they're currently serving. They also sell wine and cocktails.

We’ve tried lots of their food options over the years, and can say that everything has been great!

When we’re especially hungry, we love getting a Bavarian barley malt pretzel with dipping sauces.

The pretzel usually comes with raspberry honey butter and mustard, but you can also request "everything" butter, beer cheese, pimento cheese, or pepper jam. It's a fantastic appetizer.

I love their mussels (when they have them), but my go-to has become the Avocado Meat Candy Salad, which comes with avocado, candied bacon and blue cheese dressing, (pictured below with sausage and also with chicken).

My husband's favorites have included their burgers, doner kebab (meat on flatbread) and schnitzel (pork slices pounded thin and then breaded and fried).

They have a Sunday brunch menu that offers classic French toast, but also things like schnitzel and waffle or potato cakes and lox.

Keep an eye on their Facebook page, where they will sometimes advertise weekday specials. If you’re in the area, this is a great option!
