Toups & Co Organics makes high-quality skincare and makeup products with real, synthetic-free ingredients. We tried their products; here's what we thought!
This review is not sponsored and we paid for the products we tried.

Are you looking for a more natural skincare or makeup product? I am too. Always.
It's a seemingly never-ending, often dissatisfying search. Why?
Even organic skincare and makeup lines can have surprisingly long and complicated ingredient lists. When you can even find the ingredients listed, that is.
So, you can imagine my excitement when a friend recently told me enthusiastically about Toups & Co Organics. She gushed about it, and I wanted to know more!

Why I Tried Toups & Co Organics
First, there was my friend's recommendation. And she is every bit as picky about ingredients in skincare (or really, anything) as I am.
Next, after checking out their website, I was impressed. Toups & Co Organics' ingredient lists are impressively short, recognizable, and mostly organic.
And finally, Toups is on this list of makeup brands that passed independent testing for PFAs ("forever chemicals"). That seemed promising.
Are All of Their Products Vegan?
No. Many of their products contain beef tallow (fat) from grass-fed, local cows. Some of their products also use honey.
However, many of their products are vegan, and it’s easy to see a full list of ingredients for each product.

Things to Consider Before Purchasing
The price
Toups & Co products (in general) cost more than cosmetics you’d pick up at Target or Walmart. On the other hand, they are (in general) less expensive than many higher-end or organic skincare and makeup lines.
Storage temperature requirements
All of the Toups & Co Organics products that contain tallow (beef fat) should be stored at room temperature or cooler, because the tallow can melt at high temperatures.
That means that, for me, their products can’t fully replace some of my other products, because I’d avoid taking their tallow products (such as deodorant) on camping trips where I’d need to leave them in a hot car all day.

Our Absolute Favorite Toups & Co Organics Items
Keep reading for a full review on the items we tried. Of those (many) items, here are our favorites. And by favorites, we mean the items we're continuing to use and are thrilled with.
- Any of their tallow balms. We loved every scent, including the frankincense.
- The seabuckthorn oil. I've never had a makeup removal product that felt so nice on my skin before!
- The regular strength deodorant (for normal days) and the extra-strength deodorant (for stressful days).
- The face primer. It makes my skin feel silky smooth, and I've found myself using it even on days when I don't wear makeup.
- The eyeshadow. I've had serious problems with eyeshadows making my skin itch, and these Toups & Co Organics eyeshadows are just the best thing ever.

Favorite Winter Skincare Items
Each winter, my (usually calm, albeit sensitive) skin gets irritated from the combination of cold air and the constantly running heater. In addition to a humidifier, here are my favorite Toups & Co products to help calm my skin.
- Their calming facial tonic
- The gua sha stone. It's heavy and feels amazing
- Their frankincense tallow balm
While each person's skin is different and may have different needs, this combination has been an absolute game changer for my skin in winter.
Toups & Co Skincare Products
Our favorites in this category were the tallow balm, the Seabuckthorn cleansing oil, the serums, and the everything bar.
Here's a list of what skincare products we tried:
⁃ Glow Mask + Resurfacing Mask: Using these masks made me feel like I was having an at-home spa day!
The glow mask is a clay-based mask best for oilier skin, and comes as a dry mix that you combine with water or honey. I found mixing it required a little trial and error to get the ratio right, but it was easy enough!
My favorite was the resurfacing mask, a honey-based mask (best for dry skin) that comes premixed and smells phenomenal.

⁃ Seabuckthorn Cleansing Oil: This was my first time trying a cleansing oil, and I was surprised at how well it removed makeup. A little goes a long way, and it did not irritate my eyes (despite being rubbed all over them to remove mascara and eye makeup).
⁃ Tallow Balm: If I had to choose one item to continue ordering from Toups & Co Organics, this would be it. The tallow balm was moisturizing without being greasy, and you only need a little at a time. We loved every scent we tried. The Cherry Almond had the strongest scent, while the others had milder (also pleasant) scents. If you prefer no scent, there’s also an unscented version.
⁃ Body Oil: This is a great alternative to lotions, and the ingredient list was nice and short. It did not leave my skin feeling greasy.
⁃ Glow Serum and Reparative Serum: These two serums are both fabulous! I loved them both, but found myself drawn more to the reparative serum in hopes that its anti-aging anti-wrinkle promises work for me. Both left my skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
⁃ Soaps: We tried a variety of their bars, including the charcoal bar, the lavender tallow bar, and the everything bar. We loved that the everything bar lathered well, making it an easy swap for both soap and shave cream. The charcoal bar is designed for those with oily skin. I gave it to a friend who said it had a great amount of lather and was also long-lasting!
Toups & Co Organics Deodorant
Their aluminum-free deodorant is available in regular or extra strength.
I’ve been on a hunt for aluminum-free deodorant for years, and have tried deodorant after deodorant.
Up to this point, my favorite has been doTerra’s deodorant, which can handle everything except for my “stress sweat”. That is, it can handle sweat from workouts or hot weather, but not when I sweat because of stress.
The Toups & Co Organics tallow-based deodorant seems to work just as well as the doTerra (both use arrowroot powder as one of the main ingredients), and I haven’t noticed any “stress sweat” failure issues yet with the Toups & Co deodorant.

I like that the Toups & Co deodorant has a shorter ingredient list than the doTerra, and have switched over to using it as my primary deodorant. However, since the Toups deodorant is tallow-based and shouldn’t be left in a hot car, I’m holding onto my doTerra deodorant for traveling.
Hair Care
Toups & Co offers a dry shampoo kit that I was excited to try.
I’ve tried a variety of dry shampoos over the years, and every single one has made my skin itch. I’ve (without fail) gone back to using my old standby: plain cornstarch in a shaker bottle.
I was pleasantly surprised that this dry shampoo did not make my head itch, and it worked quite well! I also like that there’s a dark hair version.

That said, I did have trouble with the brush applicator, and had a tendency to spill the powder when I tried applying it, but I liked the powder. It may be best for someone with steadier hands than me! I’ll probably pour it into a shaker bottle and use my hands to run it through my hair.
Toups & Co Organics Makeup
When it comes to Toups & Co makeup, I admit I had lower expectations than I did for their skincare products. After all, not many brands make makeup products with so few ingredients, so I assume some of the characteristics we often desire in makeup are easiest to achieve synthetically.
That said, I have very sensitive skin, and most of the eyeshadows and mascaras I’ve tried over the years have made my eyes incredibly itchy. So I went ahead and ordered Toups + Co’s makeup, because I really wanted it to be amazing. Here’s what I thought.

My favorite products were the face primer, eyeshadow, cream luminizer, and lip gloss.
⁃ Primer: This aloe-based primer made my skin feel fabulous and I love it! That said, it’s definitely not an “eyeshadow” specific primer, as it wasn’t quite as good as other eyeshadow primers I’ve used at providing a non-oily, primed finish that will help your eyeshadow look flawless all day.
⁃ Concealer: The concealer works quite well to brighten up dark circles under my eyes. Also, when I realized that the primer didn’t work that well under eyeshadow, I tried the concealer as an eyeshadow primer. It worked for short periods of time, although I'm still reaching for other eyeshadow primers when I want my eye makeup to last all day.
⁃ Mineral Makeup + Brush: I’m happy with this makeup! I’ve been using a light coat (after moisturizing), and it goes on well and doesn’t clump or lay unevenly.
⁃ Cream Luminizer: I love this stuff! It’s like a cream highlighter, and I enjoyed the little bit of shimmer I could get by applying it.
⁃ Brow Pencil: This worked well to help patch the small thin spot on my eyebrows that I got by being a teenager in the early 2000s and, of course, over-plucking. (PSA, kids: Your brows might not grow back, stop doing that!) I’m quite happy with this brow pencil / brush.
⁃ Eyeshadow: This shadow did not make my eyes itch, and that is (in my opinion) a reason to throw a party! I’m so excited! Their eyeshadow comes in a nice range of colors, and I love that you can replace the eyeshadow containers but reuse the palette. It was nicely pigmented and blended/layered well.
⁃ Eyeliner: I was a little nervous to try this pencil style eyeliner, because I’ve gotten used to liquid eyeliner. Happily, it went on smoothly and glided across my skin easily.
⁃ Mascara: This mascara went on smoothly, didn’t clump, didn’t flake and didn't make my eyes itch (yay!). It also layered nicely, allowing multiple coats without getting clumpy. I call that a win! It did not (sadly) make my short blonde lashes look as long and curly as some synthetic mascaras do. Despite that, I'm quite happy with it, and will continue to use it.
⁃ Lip Gloss + Lipstick: I’m usually a Chapstick kind of person, but I was happy with both the lip gloss and the lipstick. The lip gloss wasn’t overly sticky, and the lipstick stayed put and didn’t end up on my teeth. Win and win.
In review, I'm a fan! I'll definitely be trying any new products they release.
