Redtree Coffee in downtown Cincinnati combines coffee, food, and cocktails with local art for a welcoming community space!

Redtree Coffee is a shop that started life as an art gallery. When coffee eventually came on the scene, the mix of the two interests resulted in a local café that remains very art-centered!
Now Redtree has two locations in Cincinnati: one in the Over the Rhine district and one in Oakley about 20 minutes away.
I visited the downtown (Over the Rhine) shop on a weekend city break.

The walls and shelves are full of productions by local artists. Special exhibitions are listed on the shop website.

You can also browse artisan jewelry, cards, stickers and other items for sale.

On the Menu at Redtree Coffee
Redtree makes really delicious coffee.

We got a plain hot latte and it was great. They also have specialty drinks that change every season.

For food, you can usually expect an array of burritos, sandwiches, or quiches.
This café had a nice atmosphere, and inviting spots to relax in. There's also a little alleyway with tables and chairs outside if the weather's good!

I saw someone with a ceramic mug with more intricate latte art than what came on top of my disposable cup. (I should’ve specified “for here” or in a mug to get more design in my foam!)
We didn’t try a cocktail since we came in the morning, but they have a full bar at this location. They offer seasonal craft drinks.

One unique thing about Redtree is that it's gratuity-free, with a priority on paying employees a livable wage without relying on tips. Therefore, you won't see a tip screen when you pay.
I’d definitely come back the next time I’m in the area!
What Else Can I Do in the Over the Rhine District?
This part of downtown Cincinnati is full of things to do! There's the historic music hall just a couple blocks north of Redtree and the huge Washington Park alongside it.
About a 5-minute drive away, you'll find Findlay Market, which is home to dozens of fresh or prepared food vendors and is one of the top attractions in town.
Also, if you're interested in the local beer scene, consider an underground beer tour in this neighborhood.
There are fun restaurant options in this district too. We particularly enjoyed the tacos at Bakersfield.
