Creek Bottom Brewing in Galax, Virginia, welcomes visitors in search of good food and beer, as well as live music.
Creek Bottom Brewing Company is a local taproom and pub in Galax, Virginia.
We stopped in for an early dinner after running in a nearby trail race, and really appreciated their food and beer! A woman I talked to at the race had eaten there the day before the race and highly recommended it (so it wasn’t just good because we were extra hungry).
The day before, we had barbeque from another local eatery, Galax Smokehouse. It was delicious too!
The Brewery + Distillery
When you first enter, you walk through a gift shop with beer for sale, as well as whiskey souvenirs.
You can get bourbon, rum, rye, vodka, and flavored whiskeys here, with tastings sold individually or in a flight of four.
Check the website to see what beers are currently on tap in the restaurant. There's a pretty extensive list of both house brews and other brands, and probably even a cider and a sour or two available at any given time.
We headed past the gift shop and into the bar and restaurant area, ordered the Dunkel and an IPA, and then headed out to their patio.
The Menu at Creek Bottom Brewing
The food menu was brimming with choices: pizza, tacos, pub food platters, sandwiches, and a long list of starters. We settled on sharing a dinner salad, and then ordered a burger (for him) and a small pizza (for me).
I really liked the salad: it had a nice mix of veggies (not just tomatoes and cucumbers).
He got a specialty burger that wasn't on the main menu, the Chili Cheese Smash Burger with fries and a pickle. (It quickly vanished into his belly.)
Each month there's a new Burger of the Month, Pizza of the Month, and Cocktail of the Month to try.
My caprese pizza was really enjoyable! It included arugula and a balsamic drizzle that were quite tasty.
A band was setting up for a show later that evening, and if we hadn’t been so exhausted from the race, we probably would’ve stayed to listen. This would be a really enjoyable spot for live music, dinner and a beer.
In fact, there are lots of events on the calendar at this place, including recurring deals on Thirsty Thursdays or Tacos & Tequila Tuesdays. Occasionally there will be a one-off event like a cornhole tournament or a Paint & Sip workshop.
Anyway, if you're in the area, it's worth keeping an eye on Creek Bottom Brewing for a casual evening out. We would go again!
