Big Mountain Brewing Co. offers specialty pizzas and burgers and a great selection of craft beers! Here's what we liked at this Chamonix bar.

Chamonix, France, is the home base for many TMB hikers in summer, but it’s also a hot spot for adventure sports enthusiasts of all kinds.
As an adventure tourism hot spot, there are many, many food options, especially for such a small town!
Big Mountain Brewing Co. was one of our favorite food spots in the area. The food was delicious, as was the beer, and the atmosphere was casual and perfect for relaxing.

The actual brewery is located about a 40-minute drive away in Cluses. It's only been operating commercially since 2018 but has expanded multiple times.
Big Mountain produces multiple types of IPA, as well as blanche (wheat) beer, lager, stout, and more.

With mountain athletes in mind, they've also debuted a low-alcohol drink (0.5%) called Nano IPA and a line of hop-infused sparkling water called Houbl’eau.

Here in Chamonix, we visited what's called the Basecamp Bar, which opened in 2024.
It has a micro-brewery on site, around 20 beers on tap (both house brews and from other producers), and a great outdoor terrace with a view of the mountains.

During Happy Hour every day, three of their signature beers are available for a discount.

What We Liked at Big Mountain Brewing Co.
We visited the night before our TMB hike, and also came back at the end of our hike.
On our first visit, we tried the margherita pizza (featuring fresh Fior di Latte, or mozzarella) and a jalapeno bacon burger.

When we came back, we tried another pizza. This one was called the "Fatboy," and it was topped with marinated peppers, capers, rocket, parma ham, and parmesan.

We also ordered a chicken sandwich, dressed with a homemade lemon aioli, along with some loaded fries.

Everything was excellent both times, and if we find ourselves back in Chamonix, this will no doubt be high on our list of spots to return to.

Our other Chamonix food experiences were great too! We enjoyed Cool Cats Hot Dogs, Casa Nonna, and Le Comptoir des Alpes.
