I love shrimp pizza.
In my view, seafood on pizza (when I can get it!) is just the best. That's why I make crab pizza at home.
But a while back, I tried a sriracha shrimp pizza at a local pizza spot (Pies and Pints), and it was fabulous.
Since then, I’ve been creating my own versions of a spicy shrimp pizza, and this one is my favorite.

Featuring hot honey (as in, spicy), chili crisp oil, and a tomato and mozzarella base, this spicy shrimp pizza is a flavor-packed quick dinner!
What Type of Dough Should I Use?
I'm a big fan of keeping ready-to-use pizza dough on hand.
What's my favorite brand? I've been using Jus-Rol pizza dough for a long time now. Since the days when it was called Wewalka.
And I've been consistently impressed by how easy it is to use, and how tasty the final product turns out.
This dough has absolutely no artificial flavors or colors, high-fructose corn syrup, or bleached flour, and is non-GMO.
So, it ticks a lot of boxes for me, besides being so conveniently packaged with oven-safe parchment paper.
Really, it couldn't be any easier.
The dough pictured is Jus-Rol's original-style “large family size” pizza dough. But I also like this pizza with their thin crust dough.

Do I Need a Pizza Stone?
Not necessarily!
I sometimes like to use an enameled pizza stone or a cast-iron pizza stone, but if you don't have one – no problem!
A baking sheet will work just fine. The parchment paper will help the crust get crispy.
What Size Shrimp Should I Use?
Small shrimp are best for this pizza.
(“Salad” size shrimp are ideal.)
Can I Use Pre-Cooked Shrimp for Spicy Shrimp Pizza?
No, for this recipe raw shrimp are better.
Pre-cooked shrimp are likely to become over-cooked, and the texture won’t be as good. No one wants rubbery toppings!
What Is Chili Crisp Oil?
Chili crisp oil is a chili oil with small pieces of chilis and other seasonings mixed in.
I use Fly by Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp. I’ve seen other variations of this spicy chili oil (sometimes called chili crunch oil), including multiple versions at Trader Joe’s.
If you prefer, you could use store-bought or homemade chili oil.
Where Can I Find Hot (Spicy) Honey for This Pizza?
Hot honey is getting easier to find!
I love Mike’s hot honey (I find it’s the spiciest), but I’ve also seen hot honey at both Trader Joe’s and Aldi.
How to Make Spicy Shrimp Pizza
Start by pre-heating your oven with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
Meanwhile, unroll the pizza dough.
With parchment paper underneath, place it on a pizza slide or a cutting board.
Gently brush some oil onto the dough, and sprinkle it with herbs.
Next, take the hot pizza stone out of the oven. (Be careful!)
Move the parchment paper and dough onto the stone or baking sheet.
Bake the dough for about five minutes.
Once the dough is out of the oven, spread the tomato sauce on it, add the mozzarella cheese, and scatter the avocado (if using).
Pat the shrimp dry, and toss with chili crisp oil in a small bowl.
Then add the shrimp to the pizza – unless you're working with wild shrimp that cooks very quickly, like spot prawns or side stripe shrimp. In that case, wait until about the last six minutes of cook-time before adding the shrimp.
The shrimp in the photos are wild side stripe shrimp.
Bake the pizza for 10-13 more minutes, or until the crust is golden and the shrimp are cooked through.
Remove the pizza from the oven. Finally, drizzle the top with the hot honey.
Let the pizza cool for just a few minutes. Then slice and serve right away!
